Power saving options (screen saver & sleep) not working.

    Hello all,

Like the topic of the post says, the power options are not working correctly. I set the time for the screen saver to come on as well as the timer to put the computer to sleep and after monitoring the computer, neither did as was intended. I have manipulated the timer settings via personalize>lock screen>screen saver settings, as well as control panel>hardware and sound>power options. I can manually put my computer into sleep mode with zero issues, but when I set the time to automatically do so, it does nothing and acts as if both settings are set to "never", the screen saver also does nothing with the timer setting ( I can preview the screen saver just fine). Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Update* So far I have also tried to use the system configuration and set the startup to diagnostic, then rebooted, after doing this the screen saver and sleep mode functioned properly. Yet when I reset it to startup in normal or selective mode sleep and screen saver functions still do not work. I went into device panel and turned off the function for my net card to be able to wake up the computer. I made sure no diagnostic tools are running in task manager. I'm not a computer techie but this is certainly not my first rodeo and I know my way around a pc quite well and with some troubleshooting I can typically figure my own issues out, yet this one eludes me...

Also, to note, My default, secondary administrator account was active and able to be utilized as soon as I upgraded my system a couple days ago. From what I have read online that secondary default admin account should only be active if you open it through the command prompt. However, I did some checking to see if there was any conflicting issues between what I was putting in for my power saving options on my primary admin account and the power saving options on the default admin account and if I change any of the setting on my primary account they also change on the default admin account. So it seems there is no conflicting issues between power options(or any options or settings between the two accounts).

Unplugged my joystick and problem vanished. It seems USB devices are the causal factor.

Finally someone. I wanted to find what the heck is the problem and it was that. My f*cking XEOX gamepad was the issue. I would never thought of that. I unplugged it and now my monitor finally can rest at night.
