    Tweaks that should be talked about more especially for low end systems

    the tweaks below work for all versions of windows as far as i know.

    Win32PrioritySeperation= is a very common talked about tweak. Win32PrioritySeperation allows you to control how much cpu time foreground and background tasks have which brings me to ThreadPriority which allows server threads to help out foreground. ThreadPriority works almost the same as Win32PrioritySeperation and with the values of the first set of tweaks given below do awesome with responsiveness of windows.

    The book windows 2000 performance guide has some helpful information about both win32PrioritySeperation and ThreadPriority

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl]
    "Win32PrioritySeparation"=dword:0000001a

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters]
    "ThreadPriority"=dword:00000000

    Default:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl]
    "Win32PrioritySeparation"=dword:00000002

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters]
    "ThreadPriority"=-

    When using the tweaks above you might wanna make sure DisablePagingExecutive and LargeSystemCache are set to 1 in your registry especially if you have a mechanical hard drive.

    Windows Search may cause problems so i have windows search disabled in my services

    The way Windows 10 handles processes is considerably different that it did back in the Win2K days. I would not mess with those settings. What exactly do you hope to gain? What empirical evidence do you have that it makes any measurable difference?

    The feeling of a more responsive computer. What good are benchmarks when your computer feels slow but the benchmarks make it seem faster? I have an hp 15 f272wm laptop with an ssd,quad core and 8gb of ram and after applying the tweaks my computer feels snappier and it helps to have a better experience when in use.

    Any performance "improvements" that can't be backed up with measurements are subject to the placebo effect. It is very easy to fall victim to it. Subjective judgements of performance improvements are always suspect.

    Microsoft has devoted an enormous amount of time and money into improving performance. If these tweaks were truly effective and suitable for general use why were they not set by default?

    Only true way to speed up a good running computer is with faster hardware.

    I won't argue with that. How you feel about your computer means a lot. I know it does for me.

    This is easy...

    Most of the time these type of "tweaks" destabilize your OS and give you a psychological imprint that things are running faster.

    Please exercise caution, IMHO.

    Exactly, I did a lot of tweaking, benchmark scores actually decreased, but overall responsiveness has increased, sluggishness is gone, desktop boots in 5 secs vs 20 secs, a browser starts in 2 secs vs 10 secs, etc.

    The bigger 10 is getting, the more problems it introduces. Windows is done by thousands of people and it contains billions lines of code and that is its weakness. The left hand does not know, what the right hand is doing, literally. Like the recent update, which drastically slows down overall performance, MS recommends to uninstall it, till it figures out, what is causing it, they do not even know, so much for the competence.

    Today, Microsoft updated the support document to announce that the company is aware of an issue where KB4482887 may conflict with certain games and degrade the gaming performance. “After installing KB4482887, users may notice graphics and mouse performance degradation with desktop gaming when playing certain games (eg: Destiny 2),” Microsoft explains.

    Would you like to share that tweak?
    Did you terminate almost every process from starting?
