    Booting into BIOS remotely

    Hi there,

First time here and not sure if this is the correct forum to post in, but I was wondering if there is a way to boot into the BIOS of a machine that is in a remote office. Here is the situation. I work IT for an engineering company and am tasked with finding a way to boot into the BIOS remotely so that I can update some settings. I have seen some things that could work like RAdmin, but that only seems to work with machines that have Intel AMT and vPro.

The unit I am trying to get this to work with is an Asus Vivo. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated !

    Thank you!

    Hi and welcome to WTF!

    Remotely?

I going to assume that this is a W10 system.
Is it a Legacy BIOS or UEFI based? Also what CPU?

All I know in this case is as follows...

    Intel® Active Management Technology

    So no vPro?

    I think that's a must have.

Let's see if someone else chimes in.

    I'm interested, too.

Correct, it is a W10 system. The CPU is an Intel® Core i3-4030U Processor. Seems to be that the i3 doesn't support the AMT unfortunately.

Specific model of machine is Asus Vivo mini UN62.

The main thing we want to do is get it set up for powering back on after power outages since one of our office seems to be getting outages a bit lately. So i wanted to try and configure Wake- on LAN as well as some other things in the BIOS.

There are many tools for this -

Here are some ideas but what about security?

Have you thought of a UPS with management software in case of no power?
You can access the UPS remotely via SNMP.

We do have UPS on site there. Just the issue with trying to get it to power back up once it is shut down. The person who deployed them set them up with out configuring it that way.

My apologizes as well, the systems are UEFI based as well.

What UPS and does it support SNMP Management?
This all has to be configured throughout the network.

From the information that I was given by my manager, the UPS are all slightly different and not sure if they are SNMP supported. As you can see, I am dealing with a not much to go on from my peers. The only thing I can think of for this would be to have the offices send me the machine back so I can do the work on them and then send them back to the offices. was just hoping that there would be a way to remote in other than with the Intel AMT since our machines don't support it.

To do anything remotely you need something running on the PC but there is no such thing that runs from the BIOS without that you can't do it. What are you trying to actually do?

Pretty much I just want to boot our Domain controller into the BIOS for I can change some settings while being remote since we don't have any IT in our other locations other than our main office. This video here i saw earlier today and tried it out, but since the machine we have doesn't have Intel AMT and isn't an i5 or i7 It doesn't seem i can do that i want. Here is the video I referenced as to what I'm trying to do.
