Hi, Zine. I looked at your tutorial but I don't think it applies to my issue. I can get the boot trace file using a command line that I got here last year. I put it into a batch file that reads:
    ____________________________
rem run a boot trace from with Win SDK
    c:
    cd %programfiles(x86)%\Windows Kits\10\Windows Performance Toolkit
wpr -start GeneralProfile -start CPU -onoffscenario Boot -onoffresultspath c:\wpr -numiterations 1 -filemode
    pause
    ------------------------------
This just gave me a new boot trace file.

What I can't figure out is how to get to see the boot sequence the way you did (and attached in screen shot) earlier in this thread.

Problem solved. Panasonic had issued a safety notice that was a popup that appeared after booting Windows and loggin in, with some startup programs running. It warned that I needed bios and controller firmware updates to protect against possible battery overheating.

I just installed the updates from Panasonic. My time from power on to password screen is back to 24 seconds.

I do not think this showed up in the boot trace. It seems odd that my slowdown was before the password prompt appeared. As noted, the Panasonic popup didn't show until after I logged in to Windows.

Happy that you finally solved your problem. I bet it was the outdated Intel rapid storage driver that was the issue! you had the 11.1.0.1006. Now you should have the 12.9.4.1000

This is an excellent site for finding the best IRST driver https://www.win-raid.com/t2f23-Intel...QL-v-WHQL.html

I went to that site and found the 64-bit driver with the number that Zine said was what I needed. That is, v. 12.9.4.1000.

The message I got when I tried to download was:
The file you are trying to download is no longer available.
The account that created this link has been terminated due to multiple violations of our Terms of Service.

When I ask Device Manager to look for an update, it says I have the latest but might find something else at my manufacturer. Hah! (see comment below)

Also, when I looked at the controller in Device Manager, I noticed two things. First, it doesn't say it is 32-bit or 64-bit. I assume since my system is 64-bit that is what I'd need. The second was the following details, which I do not understand:

    Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E03&SUBSYS_833810F7&REV_04\3&11583659&0&FA was migrated.
    Last Device Instance Id: PCI

Finally, my system is now working and booting fast (20 seconds from power on to PW prompt, 5 seconds from entering PW to Windows desktop. Is there some benefit to updating the Intel driver, assuming I can find it? The laptop manufacturer, Panasonic, has never offered it. Then again, Panasonic pretty much dropped support for my model the same year I bought it, then with Windows 7.

I think you have already updated your IRST, otherwise, you're still having the delay problem.
the version is offered on the Panasonic website for your Laptop model.

You can check the IRST version by opening device manager:

Thanks, Zine. I have never seen the Driverscape website before. On the actual Panasonic.com website, there is no indication I ever found of a newer driver for my SX2. I do appreciate your showing it to me.

Now that I have downloaded the newer drivers, would you recommend I run SetupRST.exe from the download file or use DeviceManager/Update from hard drive, and point to where the 64 bit driver files are now stored? The .INF file seems to imply RAID storage, which I do not have. Just a single, 1-TB ssd drive.

    Merci encore.

    De rien.

Have you checked the driver's version already installed on your device manager?

It is 11.1.0.1006, as you noted in a previous post. I assumed you knew it because it was in the boot trace.

If you didn't update the IRST driver, what then did you update that mad you system boot fast again?
