Older Laptop quicker than new PC

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my laptop to a SSD and windows 10 from HDD with windows 7. The difference in performance has made the change worthwhile. It now boots to sign-in in just 17 seconds which is great. However, my PC takes 30 seconds to get there and I’m wondering why the difference? I purchased the Laptop in 2012, so compared to the PC (less than 12 months old) it’s quite old.
    The PC has a 480GB ADATA SX8200 NVMe (3200MB/R, 1700MB/W) and 16GB DDR4 2400Mhz RAM.
I've checked start up menu and disabled or delayed the programs that could cause the delay. I also switched off fast start-up and it slows down further.
    Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks

Your Laptop with an SSD is surprisingly unimpressive, I still have a standard Laptop 5400 rpm HDD, 5 years old and it Boots to Signin, in 15 secs. it is on fast startup currently.

A newer Desktop will have an extensive UEFI and many hardware items connected and drivers, a lot more than a Laptop.

Was that with or without fast start-up? Needs to be a fair comparison.

Also depending on what's installed, could be other drivers or services starting.

Your desktop PC probably has more hardware to initialize making it slower to boot than the laptop. Stiil using an NVMe drive it should not take as long as you mention.

Did you update the driver for the NVMe drive after you installed it? This could be at issue.

I didn't install the card it was done by the manufacturer. I have downloaded the software that monitors the drive from ADATA and that gives it the 'thumbs up' including the firmware.

    How did you achieve that?
