I was set to 115%, this was the result with the Nvidia issue.
Fixed the Nvidia issue and the scaling corrected, icons work properly now.

Well ... it's been a week of grunting over this problem.
Might it have been easier to buy a bigger drive, clone the old to the new, and install the new one?

A 2 TB desktop drive costs maybe $50. A bit more perhaps in the laptop form factor.
With that much storage you won't ever need to lose sleep over 60 GB of phantom/missing storage space.

I've got 2.5 TB in the PC and another 8 TB on USB. Storage is just too cheap these days! :)
