Superfetch high disk usage

Do you need superfetch? Can you disable it? My superfetch consume 100% disk usage everytime windows start

It's preferable to keep it if your main drive is an HD. You can usually disable it for SSDs.

If you want your software to start in 3 secs instead of 4 secs (at the cost), then yes, you need it.

Superfetch should settle down after a while. You could try flushing contents of Windows\Superfetch folder; reboot your PC and see what happens.

Superfetch preloads applications that you use often. This means that when you start the computer it will take a bit longer to become responsive and then launching those applications will be a bit faster. But you don't really need Superfetch, it's safe to disable.

I advice to disable Superfetch only if you are facing issues. Otherwise you will incur in a noticeable speed degradation over time, even with SSD. And nowadays Superfetch does more than just preloading apps into memory. It's more complex than that.

PS - By the way the new service name for Superfetch is now SysMain.

It's still caled SuperFetch in 1803, or am I missing something? Task Manage calls it still.

It doesn't take much to call a program or application, example would be to press Windows key + R and type Write [from back in Windows 3.xx days of the early '90s], will call up Wordpad.

Yes you do need it and it is typical for Superfetch to consume some disk usage when you start Windows.

I see this all the time too, seems a poor use of system resources to me. It will calm down after a short amount of time though, but not short enough to me lol.
