How to speed up Windows 10 Home V1809?

I have installed windows 10 Home V1809 on an old netbook Acer Aspire One 722 with C60 processor. Suprisingly the windows runs pretty good, but the cpu usage is bit high and laggy. Is there a way to speed it up and reduce cpu usage? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

ACER ASPIRE ONE 722 NETBOOK SPECIFICATIONS

    Processor AMD C-60
    Clock-speed 1.3 Ghz
    Chipset AMD A68M Fusion
Graphic Processor ATI Radeon HD 6250
    Graphics Memory 256 MB

With only 2Gb of RAM (I assume from 'as bought' specs), it's likely performance will be reduced because of paging.

Have a close look at your task manager and RAM and disk usage (Performance, Resource Monitor).

Consider what you don't need to run that might reduce RAM usage.

And of course see what might be using CPU time using your task manager.

Having multiple tabs open in a browser is likely to kill performance on such a machine, for example.

Are you using 32 bit or 64 bit Windows? 32 bit would tend to use a bit less RAM and be more suitable.

Prompted by dalchina's comments I looked for the specs online. I'm more confused now than when I started, Cnet have specs for 10 different variants. None seemed to match exactly the specs you gave. Some came with the C-60, some with C-50. Some with ATI Radeon HD 6290, others with 6250. RAM supplied was either 2GB or 4GB depending on which variant it was.

What they all had in common though was Win7 Pro. How come you ended up with 10 Home?

I agree with dalchina, if you have 2GB RAM then 32-bit is preferred.

As for improving performance, the first thing I would try would be Option One in this tutorial and turn off all visual effects...

Adjust for best performance - This will turn off all visual effects.

I'll certainly agree with one thing in this thread, Windows has always worked much better when having double the memory listed in System Requirements which is 1GB for x86 and 2GB for x64.

    Hi,
I had a single core Intel with 2gb's of memory it was a pure dog on 64 bit
32 bit even with win-7 was much better and 10 is less demanding at 32 bit.

Unless there is a spastic 64 bit application for work... you have to have 32 bit would be faster.
Use crucial system scanner for upgrade options for memory...

c50 is older and c60 is newer. Mine is c60 with 4GB of ram. I Just did a full defrag and set the power option to high performance and it is performing much better now. Thank you for the reply.

If you are using an old slow 5400rpm hard disk get a SSD as soon as possible. I did this on an old ACER with one core Atom Processor (1GB RAM) and the difference was like night and day.

Totally agree. Replacing the HDD with an SSD would make a large improvement.
