A simple fix for alot of Windows 10 issues

Since Windows 10 came out alot of people have had issues concerning alot of aspects in Windows 10, i have been serving ppl as a free tech supporter and i thought to include some fixes here, alot of ppl are panicking, and avoid going to a service company for an expensive repair for simple solutions.

What i have gathered so far, most problems appear on machines that have been upgraded from factory installed Windows 8, Windows 7 updaters have hardly had any problems on my circle.

ALOT of general issues that appear like missing buttons, buttons not working, windows not opening, are fixed via the command prompt using the windows repair tool, by activating the command "sfc /scannow" on admin command prompt will activate the broken areas search on your windows, some machines it lasts about 5 minutes, others it can take up to an hour.

Every machine so far has had corrupted parts on the Windows 10, that this command has repaired, even my own upgrade from Windows 7 had corrupted sections, which didnt effect my using, but others have had issues repaired by it.

Not all issues are repaired, like on windows 8 i could repair our HP Pavilion laptops black screen and what not issues with it, on Windows 10 the problem returned and the tool wouldnt fully fix it.

    In a nutshell.

Access the command prompt on windows 10 via the search function on your taskbar, by searching "cmd" without quotes, right click and use as administrator, type in "sfc /scannow" without quotes again, and let it finish, reboot, alot of problems solved.

If the search button, start menu, or other ways dont work, you can access it from the task manager, choosing "File" then "Run" or what is the top option on an english windows, type cmd, and check the administrator box, then type "sfc /scannow".

btw, i wasnt allowed on the guides section, i thought this would fit in here, hope it will be useful and people find it by googling.

The use of sfc /scannow is a 2 sided sword. I never ever had a PC it not showed that there were (bogus) errors it couldnt repair. The problem also is that the log it creates is 2000 pages in size and you take for ages trying to find the errors it couldnt repair in the 8mb text file. For example on my PC which is totally correctly setup and working fine, the log file is full of hundreds of "error" messages, things could not be found and not be repaired.

What i mean is, it fixes alot of issues automaticly, it doesnt fix everything, but it has made a few Windows 10s with issues work, my own pc is corruption free now, it was just an example that all the Windows 10 machines ive worked with now or helped over teamviewer or phone, has had some corruption on them, all of them havent shown symptoms.

Maybe there is too much text or too many points on what i wrote.

"ALOT of general issues that appear like missing buttons, buttons not working, windows not opening, are fixed via the command prompt using the windows repair tool, by activating the command "sfc /scannow" on admin command prompt will activate the broken areas search on your windows, some machines it lasts about 5 minutes, others it can take up to an hour."

Is the main area of what all of this is for, i havent made any guides or so in the past but decided to try now, theres alot of questions about these around the internet and good answers are few.

I have one minor problem. The taskbar on my second monitor won't auto-hide. So, never having run SFC Scannow I decided to give it a try. I started it and when I saw how long it took to go from 1% to 2%, I took my dog for a walk. When I returned a half-hour later it was done. It said it had found no problems.

Oh, well. I tried and at least I got no false positives.

The System File Checker is nothing new with 10 by any means! I had to run that quite often with XP and then a much lower volume of times with Vista and so far as I can recall never needed on 7! That includes the beta and RC builds as well as the RTM!

What should be the most commonly seen type of problems now has to do with getting device drivers and previously run apps and softwares to go on and run or stay running. With the initial upgrade expect problems! After running a second upgrade over the upgrade after 10 was activated it fixed a whole lot of things real fast including seeing downloads from support sites suddenly install fully as well as getting the AV program installed actually a beta of the 2016 version even though the company indicated the present 2015 build would run on 10 as well.

For most however the easy solution if not desperate to avoid the need to reinstall everything from scratch all over again is to simply tend to a full clean install and call it a day! Once all the updates go on including a patch with apparently some 1,000 or so fixes 10 should run troublefree for some time since everything went on fresh without any lingering now useless registry entries, errors on the drive, fragmentation and corrupted files, etc. being a concern!

I use my pc connected to the TV and it is stuck, but it hides behind fullscreen games and video, i cant really tell how you can hide it fully for the moment.

This is true also, but it is the last thing ill do, i do format my pc every 1-2 years even if i havent had a reason to do so, but when it comes to just fixing problems, i like to fix them without reinstalling.

Sometimes reinstalling is the fastest way, when you cant find a solution inside 1 day, but i also like to learn, also its hard to get people to restore factory settings or to reinstall windows, unless i go and do it for them.

Still im learning the true purpose of the command, i know alot of fixes and if i dont, i find the solutions usually quite fast, this fix has been quite well for a few computers, instead of reinstalling/factory settings, the thing is, if you can fix your problem with this in a few minutes, its worth it.

Often the problems seen are not so much with system files but device drivers becoming inactive and needing to be removed for a fresh set to go on. The hard drive or drives may have accumilated a number of disk errors pertaining to the system partition information. Seen that from drive wear enough!

Generally I know when with 7 for the most it will be time to see a nice new clean install of the Windows version that is on needing to be wiped due to a cluttered up registy, a general slowdown, and too much stuff ends up seeing "not responding"! That's when things are too bugged up to be thinking the SFC is going to much of anything. It helps with minor annoyances but not more extensive problems that persist even when using the System Restore option.
