Scheduled Tasks that run every hour

I notice that there are several tasks that are scheduled to run every day every hour. Most notably HP, Epson, & GoogleUpdateTaskMachine. This seems a little excessive & I wonder if anyone feels this should be changed to once a week or something similar, without causing any problems. This is especially true of the printers, which are rarely updated. Is this an excessive use of resources or am I just being paranoid?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Depends, what do they do?

GoogleUpdateTaskMachine is the Google update services which are run via task scheduler.
If you don't let it run, things like your Google Toolbar, Google Earth, Chrome etc will not be kept up-to-date.

No idea what the others do. You'll have to do some investigation to figure that out then decide if you want that to happen or not. Me, I'd disable them.

Thanks for your response. I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I don't want to completely disable them; I just don't know why Google (or the other ones) have to check for updates every hour.

Sorry, got off on a tangent. You should be able to change them to once a day or even once a week.

OK. I guess the worst that could happen is that they'll automatically change back.

I've changed some of mine to every 30 days without a problem. With the Google update, you always have the option to manually update things like Chrome - it'll notify you if it needs to be updated when you open it.
