    How to clean system

    Hi,

After un-installing any software, I found that it did not remove completely. It seems to be using some location to keep old settings. I have checked registry but did not find it there. Any idea? At what location it is keeping old history?

    Probably in C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local

    AndreTen is right.

Very few programs uninstall 'completely' these days. There are nearly always remnants or empty folders left behind.
Revo Uninstaller especially... is designed to 'completely remove' these remnants.

This is where CCleaner comes in handy. I know lots of people say never use the Registry Cleaner function of CCleaner but I've used it many time with no problems what so ever. I always allow CCleaner to make a backup of the items it deletes from the registry so if there are problems I can put them back.

I currently have 4 CCleaner registry delete backups hanging around that I'll delete soon.

CCleaner also shows you what it's going to delete and allows you to pick the ones you want to get rid of. I just Select all and Delete.

You could even do a full registry backup before using CCleaner for this.
