    Disk Clean

With recent updates the native "Disk Clean" app MS added a new feature, that is, "Downloads".
I keep nothing in any "Downloads Folders" any/all downloads are transferred to a USB flash drive after installing for ease of reinstalling after a clean install.
Question is: The "Downloads" folder depicted in "Disk Clean" keeps growing in (size) and currently shows 1.8 MB. Where are these files located? I've searched Local User, Local Admin, Hidden Admin and app Data, I cant" find a "Downloads" that contains files. I don't like disk clean willy-nilly deleting files I'm not aware of.

That happened (probably by accident) in next to last Fast/Skippy insider builds, fixed since. Just got to be careful when checking boxes. Some programs default to Downloads folder no matter what, check if it's really empty and no hidden files in it. I just looked into my DL folder and found that AMD (semi)automatic GPU driver update placed it there.

Yes! All my downloads default to the download folder, but, I transfer them to a thumb drive and delete the folder files.
Honestly I have nothing in the "Downloads" yet Disk Clean is currently showing 1.8 MB. I don't like deleting the folder as I have no idea what those download files are.

    Stumbled across this article
One of the changes coming to user with Windows 10 October 2018 Update concerns the way disk cleanup works, as starting with this version, the operating system can also remove files in the Downloads directory.

I have 20+ sub folders in Downloads Folder, always have saved my purchased programs and other Windows utilties in Downloads. That folder is no different than Documents and Music.

It was a foolish inclusion to Disk Cleanup because people who keep their Downloads Folder organized are going to accidentally check the box to clean Downloads and POOF ! There goes all their content. I hope they change it with a patch or someone here like Brink and his team develop a download Batch File to remove that item from Disk Cleanup.

I have everything backed up to an external SSD and I backup often, System Image as well. But that's not the general habit of everyday computer users.

I store my wanted downloads in a folder I've named and which Windows is ignorant of!

I agree that downgrading "Downloads" to some sort of temporary folder was a silly move; to better understand how it works there is a specific new tutorial:
