My machine is performing better than ever. In fact, the GDI performance on 1809 with the Spectre patch enabled is better than 1803 with it disabled, which translates to a better overall desktop experience. And other computational/multimedia benchmarks are only a few % down with Spectre enabled vs. disabled in 1809.

I think Microsoft ought to be given some credit for stepping up to the plate and tackling performance problems that were not of their making.
Interesting. Congrats to Microsoft. I noticed quite a performance difference in the Assassins Creed Odyssey in game benchmark with Spectre and Meltdown disabled, notably less frame spikes from the CPU and GPU, but I think that game may have some code issues related to unnecessarily high CPU usage in some instances anyway. A friend of mine could not notice any difference in two or three other games with S/M disabled.

    What is GDI performance?

2D graphics rendering (Graphics Device Interface). A good measure of how the desktop graphics will perform IME.
