    SFC failure to complete

As part of my effort to cure problems with booting I have been trying to run SFC/SCANNOW but it fails every time with a notice that 'Resource protection cannot carry out the command', usually about half way through but recently after it after the scan had reached 95%. How can I repair it?

    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    4) dism /onlime /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) sfc /scannow
    6) chkdsk /scan
    7) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    8) Find a flash drive that you can format ( > or = 8 GB)
    9) Create a bootable Windows 10 iso:
    Download Windows 10

If running the dism commands fix the problems with scannow then that will complete the troubleshooting.
If running the dism commands does not fix the problems with scannow then plan to perform an in place upgrade repair:

    Hi,
    to cure problems with booting
    - could you expand on that? Thanks!

Otherwise I agree with all the above- provided you use build 1803 (ref in-place upgrade repair). Please confirm your build is 1803 - if not, post back before attempting that.
    Windows key + X, winver

    Noting
Hard Drives: TOSHIBA eMMC Letter C NTFS 64 GB Memory Card D 14.6GB
    - you may have too limited space for the in-place upgrade repair to succeed. How much free space have you on C: ?
