RAM increase - worthwhile?

    One way you can tell if you need more ram is to open task manager, go to the performance tab, and click on memory. Keep it open while you do your daily routine on the computer. If it gets anywhere near the top third then you might want to consider more.

    Do you mean the memory usage reported by Task Manager does not take into account those virtual memory writings? In other words: despite TM always showing (for example) at least 40% free physical memory, the actually free memory can be quite less than 40% and reduce overall performance?

    Task Manager is always running in a corner of my desktop (helping me also to spot any... suspect background activities).
    That's the reason why I said, in my opening post, that RAM "never gets over 5-6GB during normal use".
