    SFC /SCANNOW Question

Just got a Windows Update. Build 17134.285. After everything installed and updated, I ran sfc /scannow and it said I had corrupted files it could not fix. Use the log created do an online repair? So there is a way to fix the file corruption without re-installing Windows?

    Hello Walter,

If you haven't already, you could try the items in the note under step 4 in Option 3 below to see if that may allow SFC to be successful afterwards.

Got it! I ran sfc /scannow 4 times after re-booting each time. Even ran it in Safe Mode. No luck. Still got "corrupted Files". So I finally ran the DISM Command. It said it ran successfully. So I re=booted once more, ran sfc /scannow once more and it said no problems found. Woopiee!!

    Thanks for the help.

I think I had the same issue - since last update SFC started showing failure. It was a shortcut to Onedrive located in Users/Default/Appdata/Roaming/Microsoft/Programs/Start Menu which was corrupt. I think MS fudged up.

Just SFC wasn't enough to clear the issue. After DISM it's gone, and stays gone after reboots.
