Very sluggish Logon Screen after reboot or from a Shutdown

Have you guys noticed that during the Windows 10 logon screen, it is very sluggish at the point were It just has the lock screen background image with no password prompt box and then I need to hit enter again to get the password box to reappear. And most of the time, when I enter my password, there is a typing delay and usually that results that I entered my password incorrectly.

This is been happening since v1803. Never did it on v1709 or on even v1607.

It usually improves when I wait at the logon screen for a minute.
Perhaps maybe I should terminate some background apps or services?
My system is clean from malware, and its been doing this after a few clean reinstalled.
Maybe its an update that's doing this lagging or slowness issue at the logon screen.

However, when I just only lock my screen, its fine, but it only occurs when booting from a shutdown or a reboot.

Hi. I would suggest that you update all your drivers. Look at the graphic card and intel rapid storage drivers.

My advice is to never use 3rd party driver programs. Go to the computer MFGR's site and look for your exact model of computer where you can get them for free if there are any. If there are new drivers available you either find them there or a link to the hardware mfgr for the drivers where they also will be free. No need downloading any type of driver search program. It is super easy to get them from the mfgr.

I thought that Win10 drivers update themselves through Windows Updates?

Anyways I will check my vendor for any newer graphics drivers.

It’s a laptop by the way.

Its also possible that my HDD is getting a bit worn out which is not an SSD, it still uses the spinning one.
But with that said, once I use the computer, its performance is great.

Or, another possible thing is, that maybe Secure Boot and BitLocker (with AES-256) encryption may have a boot up performance impact as well. That's another thing as well.

What version of Windows 10 do you have? Home, Pro, Enterprise, Education? If it is Home version then the problem could very well be Bitlocker encryption.

    If upgrading your driver doesn't help, so take a boot trace using Windows Performance Recorder;

Just an update here to this thread.

So I re-installed Win10 and the logon screen appears more stable than it was before.
I had some Group Policy setting under BitLocker that might of been the cause like Block New DMA Devices when this Computer is Locked. I guess that was the cause.

Enabled BitLocker again but this time without the Group Policy setting.

I can still see the mouse cursor spinning, but there is no typing delay when I enter my logon password.

    Thanks!
