Performance Slows Down Substantially Couple of Hours after Reboot

Hi, suggest you launch your task manager before this starts to happen.

First check resource use when your PC is nominally idle 3 or 4 mins after logging in and create a screenshot of your task manager.

Create further screenshots every 15 mins.

When things get really sticky, be prepared to take a photo of your task manager.

It may also be useful to have your resource monitor in- decide on the basis of what you observe. If so, also include that in your screenshots.

When your PC has become unusable, post the screenshots and photo in sequence here.

1. Have you ever modified your page file settings? Or are these default settings?
2. If you do not try to use your PC after logging on, does the same thing happen?
3. How long has this been happening? Can you think of anything that you changed or that happened just before this started happening?

What build is your Windows 10?
Windows key + R, winver.
What type of disk(s) do you have?

Hmm, that didn't show what I might have guessed- I may be missing something, but there's nothing there suggesting excessive resource use.

7. And do you notice any difference after a clean boot?
What happens if you do a clean boot.. do not launch any programs or try to use the PC- does it still get slower?

8. When it's sluggish, please post a screenshot of task manager, Performance tab, Memory and Performance tab, Disk.

It could be your machine is trying to get V1803.

Are you preventing the upgrade?

If you go into Start > Settings > Update & Security > View update history

Anything funny going on...failed updates?

I don't really have a clue about relevant changes.

Here's a helpful idea.
First, use disk imaging routinely as is so often advised here. E.g. Macrium reflect (free). If you have disk images you can easily restore your disk/partition/Windows to a previous good state without technical help - even if you need a new disk.

Second, what I do is to keep a simple text record of changes. I record when I create my next image (differential usually- smaller, faster, differences since first base image), then add each change in sequence.

Thus if I need to restore an image and diagnose a problem I can redo the basic steps.

Whilst it's certainly worthwhile doing an AV check, we have asked for a clean boot and to leave the PC idle to see what happens after time. That covers the issue of startup programs.

I haven't noticed any programs that would alarm me, although it's clear a lot of less familiar ones are in use. Hence the clean boot request as a starter.
