Your earlier posts suggest an SSD/HDD too small. This does show up on one of your images, 40 GB.
No doubt others will argue, but to me that is not enough.

Not just Windows but installed applications can potentially use a lot of space temporarily.
Some applications can be configured to use less.

You are running a large number of applications.
Mailbird is using 400 MB. That is 20x what my Mail App uses.
    Another Desktop search engine.
What look like various other alternative applications to those in Windows 10.
Advanced System Care I would uninstall.

Overall cut down on non essential applications, and configure those that remain.

Does not look like anything in particular is wrong. Other than you will always be in this position over and over again with an SSD of that size and what you are running.

You are short of the last 1803 update(around 1 May), lack of SSD space may have been a factor there, or hardware or something. Sounds to me you would have no idea what happened around then.

Just to throw this in the mix. Was mentioned it may be trying to get 1803. According to OP post, current WINVER shows:

Current released 16299 should be 16299.637:

Lots has happened since Dec. 2017 regarding CPU FW and MS FW updates.

The build is certainly out of date, however the task manager screenshots show nothing about an update...

We'll need to wait to see what the screenshot of Update History shows.

And please post screenshot of your partitions using Minitool Partition Wizard, expanding columns as necessary to show all text.

PS. I do use a disk imaging of the system. Though I use the Win10 built-in tool for this. I hope this tool is as good as the one you recommend Dalchina.

Also, important: I do suppress Win updates (I had a previous post about this).

I will need to come back to the testing of the machine via Clean Boot etc. next week I think; because now I'm traveling. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

Yes. Lack of disk space suppressed once the 1803. But I'm not sure this is the problem.

Yes, there was a failed attempt once for 1803, because of insufficient diskspace one or two months ago. Maybe this is the problem. I suppressed this update, as I reported in previous post on this forum.

It could be your machine is trying to get V1803.

    Are you preventing the upgrade?

If you go into Start > Settings > Update & Security > View update history

    Anything funny going on...failed updates?

Whilst it's good you do this, if that's Backup and Restore (Windows 7) - that's a really poor choice.

MS recommends using 3rd party tools and has done for a good number of months.

Seems you have two separate issues:
    - the performance problem
    - failure to update

I'd prefer to see the clean boot performance before attempting to fix your update problem, which could be easy or nigh impossible- it depends.

It's disk image backup, it's not the Win 7 backup and restore, AFAIK
