Slow Bootup - Constant Activity - Cannot run Media Creation Tool

    HI Guys

My PC for some reason has just started (past 4 weeks) running like a Sloth. Not added any new software so I guess it must be a Windows update package.

I have tried some things from Sudden slow boot time on Windows Loading screen with SSD - Windows 10 Forums

Item, 1 log collector no longer works invalid link!!!

It found some errors and repaired them seem to be ok for 48 hours then went back to slow boot. Also coming back from Sleep mode is even slower.

So I was going to try the reinstall with the creation tool and keep all my files and apps. But that fails as well see the image I get. I am on Windows 10 Pro in the UK and it is a legit copy.

Is there a way I can see what is making it boot slow ?

    Hi,
To see what's making your boot slow use Windows Performance Recorder to take a boot trace. After that, we can analyze your boot trace and see what going on.

here are the steps to take a boot trace:

    1. Open a command line as an Administrator (Run As Administrator)
    2. Type the following command in the command line Windows: cd %programfiles(x86)%\Windows Kits\10\Windows Performance Toolkit
    3. Type the following command to start recording the boot trace: wpr -start GeneralProfile -start CPU -onoffscenario Boot -onoffresultspath c:\wpr -numiterations 1 -filemode
    4. Compress the .ETL file generated under the C:\WPR path (very important)
    5. Upload the boot trace file on Dropbox or on https://www.transfernow.net/en/

Why did you add x86 at the end (after Toolkit) ?! cd %programfiles(x86)%\Windows Kits\10\Windows Performance Toolkitx86

If you have trouble to run this command, so you need to download the WPT toolkit
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...ed/adk-install

Then run Windows Performance Recorder and select these options https://justpaste.it/1g4sx

Here is a tutorial if you need more details: http://zinetek.com/2015/12/16/how-to...boot-sequence/

according to the boot trace, your boot time is pretty good! You were asked to log in after 12s from the boot. the logon phase took 17s.

Except for the post boot phase that took 120s! did you experience mouse stutter or other other difficulties to open explorer or programs during this phase (After de Desktop is displayed)?

Try to update your NVidia driver and see if it helps. your driver's version is 398.36. The newest version is 399.07https://www.geforce.com/drivers

    HI

I have updated the GC Drivers as suggested and it seems better. I still get mouse stutter but only while Dropbox and other apps are loading.

Considering your error message, post #1, if you need an iso for an in-place upgrade repair install, for example, you can download one using the iso download tool in post #3 here:
Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums

When you say your PC is slow, is it also slow after you have logged in - does your task manager show excessive resource either when it is idle or when you are attempting particular tasks?

Did you notice a performance change when upgrading to build 1803, or after that?

It may help to post a screenshot of your Update History around 4 weeks ago when you noticed this.

Note that there has been concern that a patch released to counter "Meltdown" has caused some PCs to slow.
