    @Randysea
According to your boot trace, the delay occurs during the Winlogon phase!
WPA shows that the process Wininit (Thread 924) is causing a High Disk I/O and is waiting for 130s.

If you dig deeper in the call stack you can see that functions from the iastor.sys module are causing the big part of this delay.

your Intel rapid storage driver is not up to date! you are using the 11.1.0.1006 version of 2 February 2012.

Update this driver, it should solve your problem.

With regard to the Intel Rapid Storage Driver - peruse this excellent site https://www.win-raid.com/t25f23-Whic...D-drivers.html

Note the 'best' driver for your chipset is not necessarily the latest driver. You can uninstall the IRST utility if you like which should leave behind the important IRST IDE ATA/ATAPI driver - mine is iaStora.sys

    Very interesting, zinou. Thanks.

Do you have any guess why this problem would have only surfaced in the past week or so? That driver must be the original. I have been using this machine 3 years and always with very fast bootup until now.

I am assuming it is relatively easy to find Intel drivers on Intel's website. I have also read frequent admonitions about their drivers. A recent Intel graphics driver has caused problems for many people with recent Dell laptops, for example. And those drivers came via Dell.

In my case, I can't count on any advice or drivers from my manufacturer, Panasonic. They pretty much stopped supporting my model, CF-SX2 Toughbook, while they were still selling it.

The good news is that if I install the driver and it crashes, I have a very good (and tested!) backup program to restore a full disk image. This saved my wife's machine when none of the Windows or Dell restore routines could overcome the installation of the bad graphics driver. That's the subject of another, very long thread on tenforums.

I just rechecked the Panasonic site. The Intel driver I have from 2012, as noted in zinou's post, is the latest offered by Panasonic.

I did look at the link you gave me. To be honest, the choices are a bit overwhelming. Also, I don't see how to uninstall IRST or what it does. It doesn't show in Revo Uninstaller as something that can be uninstalled.

Under Device Manager, IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, all I see is Intel Series 7 SATA/AHCI. This is less info than the Win-Raid post shows for deciding on which driver is compatible. It looks like the last drivers I could safely use would still date back to 2014, before my laptop was manufactured. But Panasonic chose to incorporate an earlier one.

The Intel Rapid Storage utility should be in your list of installed programs. You have a Series 7 chipset so it's your choice which driver to use from the list I gave you. The table in the link for your 7 series laptop recommends Intel RST(e) v12.9.4.1000 or v13.1.0.1058. If in doubt, it's best to use your PC manufacturer's driver.

Nothing like IRST in my list, either through Control Panel/Programs or Revo Uninstaller Pro.

From the log files, zinou found "the process Wininit (Thread 924) is causing a High Disk I/O and is waiting for 130s." Throwing in a newer driver from Intel (not approved by Panasonic) might help, but doesn't answer the question of why this whole problem just started so recently.

I did run some Panasonic utilities. They didn't find any hardware problems, overheating, etc.

Fwiw, I have attached a printout showing the SSD speed tests. Too bad I didn't ever do this before the boot slowdown.

It seems the IRST utility might have been installed then removed. This will leave behind the Intel driver for your IDE ATA/ATAPI driver - mine is iaStora.sys. This is a good solution - you don't really need the utility but the Intel driver is supposed to be faster.

    Hi everyone!

A friend of mine is having a similar problem to the one explained in this topic. She asked me for help, but it's been long since I last used Windows on a regular basis. I have followed the steps you explained here in order to try to track the cause of the problem. I think I have the root of the problem but as I am not an expert on reading the WPR files perhaps I am missing something. I've uploaded the file to https://drive.google.com/file/d/18ah...ew?usp=sharing Could you take a look and help me with it?

Thank you very much for your time!
