It definitely is not RAID 0. RAID 0 is something completely different.

So should leave it alone. It will probably be populated during disk use and cleared after that?

The HP computers were set up to use RAID 0.
The model that you have is 14 GB and some of the models that I use are 32 GB.
According the HP business tech support this was their method to advance the technology to SSD at the time in which large storage drives were needed and when faster boots became more important.
They called this a modified hardware/software RAID 0 or flash cache.

Probably it would be best (certainly easiest).

You could install windows on the cache drive (see below) but at 14GB it is a bit small so you'd have hassles using/upgrading it.

If it was 32GB I would do it. 14GB it a bit tight (my Windows is about 7GB compressed after install but balloons after that). Honestly, I'd leave it to do its thing.

No they were not - stop posting nonsense.

RAID 0 is a design to use 2 or more disks of (ideally) the same size to maximize write speed where the limitation is the disk speed rather than that of the disk controller. It has absolutely nothing to do with the small cache SSD that the OP is talking about which is used as cache.

Please have a look on the Wikipedia link I posted above.

Yea, 14 GB isn't big enough to really do anything with, but you may want to check and see if the Condusiv ExpressCache is still installed and setup.

Open a Command Prompt as Admin > eccmd.exe -info

    Access Denied

    RAID
Use RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) mode when you want to use more than one hard drive, either to increase storage space or create a backup disk. RAID technology allows several hard disk drives to function as one storage area (the array) to provide either data redundancy (backup security) or faster performance (striped reading/writing data from or to the disk drives).
In RAID mode, the SATA controller enables both AHCI and RAID functions when the computer boots.
If you are installing multiple hard drives and using RAID mode, connect one of the drives to the lowest numbered port (SATA0 or SATA1), then connect the remaining drives to ports on the same controller. On some motherboards the SATA ports are color coded. Connect the drives to ports of the same color.

This configuration was set up for faster performance.

Disk Caching is the pairing of a small solid state drive with a traditional hard drive to accomplish increased responsiveness without sacrificing performance for capacity

Solved: upgrade/upsize SSD cache in HP Envy Recline TouchSmart 23? - HP Support Forum - 5521012

A late thanks for your advice. Based on this feedback, and on having just discovered that the "hidden" ExpressCache software on my system quietly stopped working after upgrading to Windows 10 (and HP support does not currently seem to have updated ExpressCache software for Windows 10), I decided to install a large SSD drive and use it as the boot drive.
    - worth looking at?

response was " command not recognized as internal or external command etc."

Also the folder "Condusive Technologies" is empty in Program Files

Does this mean its been removed by Windows 10 ?
