    Windows 10 boot speed

I have an old Sony Vaio AIO VGC series computer that my wife uses.( Core 2 duo E8400) , 3Ghz) Her primary complain is slow boot up . I am thinking of replacing it with a 15 inch Laptop ( 8th generation core i5). Would this 10 year newer computer boot up faster with a HDD drive compared to the old computer or should I purchase one with a 256GB SSD .

BTW I have already trimmed the startup to the minimum.

    Tks

From my experience I find SSD's much faster when it comes to booting up and starting apps. I only use an HDD to store data.

Comparing both, on identical conditions, there is no much difference on boot time.
If you replace the old HDD with an SSD you'll see a boot-speed miracle and not only.
So, you save money, plus you may use the old HDD as an external USB drive.
If you go for new PC, prefer those with SSD.

I checked and its probably doable. Instead of cloning the C drive from HDD , I prefer to reinstall a clean copy of Windows 10 using media creation tool.

Of course!!! That's the best you can do!

You may also do the same for the current HDD (clean install), making a backup of your files before.
I'm sure, boot time will be much faster than now.

And if you'll go for a clean install, it's better to delete everything on this drive (all partitions) and install Win on an "Unallocated" space.

Yes I might do that first , have nothing to lose. I have already backed up my personal files.
Currently my disk allocation is as follows.
    100MB system reserve
    78G C drive ( windows 10 , primarily OS and programs etc )
    100G D drive ( data )
    100G E drive ( data)
    190G Unallocated

So I delete everything ? Can windows disk management do this or I need to use programs like mini disk partition tool or Macrium.

Actually, you may perform partition deletion/creation through the installation media, following "Customize Setup"(or so), right after "Install" screen.

You cannot delete OS partition from within Windows.
