Windows 10 PC wont shut down
My Windows 10 PC has stopped shutting down. I have tried windows updates all up to date. SFC /SCANNOW running several virus checkers. What next? No system restore available before this started.

Hi, try disabling Fast Startup if enabled.

What is the history of your device? Was there any significant event that preceded it not shutting down, such as an upgrade or update? (See Update History for dates of updates).
What build is your Windows? (Windows key + R, winver).
Your PC does not appear in the latest compatibility lists for Win 10, nor in that for the 1511 build:

Failing that and other comment and research, you could try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs, data and most settings.

Forgot to mention had disabled fast start up. I can't remember when it happened about a week or 2 ago.
Version 1803 Build 17134.191 The machine is a Dell Inspriron 580.

Did some driver (video perhaps) got changed somehow? Check Driver Manager to see if you have the latest drivers from manufacturer (not MS Windows Update).

You might try looking at your event viewer:

(Ok, your post isn't about slow shutdown as such).
Sorry, the site is rather laden with ads.

1) List all of the antivirus software programs in use on the computer (automatic and manual)
2) Run the BETA log collector and post a zip into this thread:

(extract > open)
3) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
4) sfc /scannow
5) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
6) Powercfg -h off
7) net user test /add
8) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
9) msconfig (in the pop up system configuration > move the dot from normal startup to selective startup > uncheck load startup items > click service tab > in left lower corner check hide all Microsoft services > in the lower right side click disable all > click apply or ok > do not reboot)
10) taskmgr (in the pop up task manager > click on the start up tab > click on status so that the column sorts with enable rising to the top > right click on each row with enable and change to disable)

11) shutdown /r (you will reboot the computer so that it is in clean boot)
12) logon with the new user named test > shutdown the computer > report into the thread any changes in the shutdown

Sorry, at 93 bytes, something wrong with that. The admin did comment in another thread the forum doesn't accept 7z, but noted the attachment is.. could you try zip? Please also say how you generated the log. Thanks.
