CPU running high due to NVIDIA container process

Win 10 Pro x64 1709 single user desktop, i7-4790K, 32 GB ram, plenty of SSD/HDD. For the first time in memory, there's a blue circle constantly running alongside the mouse cursor this morning, which got me to check CPU usage. I've identified what's causing it, the NVIDIA LocalSystem Container process, which was updated last night (drivers and sound). Is that process necessary? I don't play games and haven't seen any problems since disabling it in Autoruns. With it, CPU in Task Mgr shows in the 30% range; without it, CPU usage is down around 2-5%. Any thoughts, suggestions?

If you don't play games, there is little need for constantly updating nVidia drivers? Try reverting to previous version.

Earlier versions didn’t solve it, even with a clean install. Needed to disable LocalSystem Comtainer. Looking that up, it’s meant for gaming, as I recall.

I always install nVidia's driver without bloat. You have to do it manually.

    Example Gratia 1.

    Example Gratia 2.

Do you have the "G-Force Experience" installed? It's part of the full driver/software package that's installed and is IMO a big PITA. It's always running in the background looking for software and driver updates. Just delete it.

I personally update all my drivers manually and always click the customize option to see what tid bits are added and unnecessary.

After finding a solution, I edited out of my OP that I install only the graphics and sound drivers via customize. I’m not sure why there was a problem this time.
