Programs not restoring from taskbar

I recently discovered this glitch after upgrading my Win 10 to v1803 b17134.165

certain programs refuse to restore after being minimised to the taskbar. They just flash up to the top left of the screen and disappear, but still remain tiled in the taskbar. When i hover the mouse over these tiles in the taskbar it doesnt show the minimised program, it just shows a blank tile with the programmes name. Only certain programs are affected, namely kodi and BitTorrent ... so far.

The only fix so far is to close the program via task manager, then restart.

Any Ideas?

Showing a blank tile for the program when you hover over the taskbar is usually a sign that the program is busy and not responding. I've seen that on a minimised File Explorer tile on occasion.

The same may explain your programs not restoring, they probably won't be able to if they've got stuck in a 'not responding' state. I'd try not minimising them for a while and see if they run into trouble while you can still see their windows and may be able to investigate what's going on.

the programs aren't always minimized, just in the taskbar but not having focus ... back of the pile on screen so to speak. Regarding 'busy' I dont think is an option, as when i click on the taskbar tile the screen flickers as though it is trying to give focus to that program.

As i said it doesnt glitch all of the time, just now and again, usually after being woken up from sleep screen (not hibernation)

When it does glitch while the program isn't minimised, does the program's window also stop responding? If so, it may be the programs can't see the display after it blanked out then returned. Are the display drivers up to date?
