My specs 'good' enough for video editing?

For my study I bought the HP Pavilion Power 15 laptop with the specs:

Intel Core i5 7300HQ (4 cores) 2,5 GHz (max. 3,5 GHz)
16 GB ram
756 gb SSD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2048 MB

Simple question, what is your opinion if you see this specs for basic video editing (most of the time small projects, max 30-40 minutes story, 720p or 1080p editing, no crazy effects, sometimes some color correcting).

I know this laptop has also an i7 7700HQ model but unfortunately I really couldn't buy that one with my budget, and now I feel sometimes bad about it.

Yes that will be ok but what software will you use fitfilm express is the top free one or something like filmora is good very simple to use and used a lot for YouTube

I use Adobe Premiere most of the time.

I would add RAM to at least 32 GB but your set up should work pretty well the SSD will come in handy for producing after editing

Would more RAM improve the performance, or only the rendering? Well, the good thing is that the RAM is upgradable. What about the processor? Isn't that the most important thing if it comes down to performance with tasks like editing?

I would try it as it is then you know for sure if you need more. I have done it on a lot less specs. Ok use hitfilm as it has more than premier and free or you can get extra with pro version Adobe is very expensive

Well since you already purchased this notebook, it's not likely that you can even change CPU or GPU there soldered in nowadays. If you wanted a more powerful computer you should have bought it. Second, guessing your self now is wasted time and energy. You probably can only Add Ram and upgrade SSD's that's about it for notebooks nowadays. Higher end Samsung Pro SSD, the larger they are the faster they work.

As to will RAM improves general performance. Not really however for RAM intensive operations like video rendering and Auto Cad here is an article I just googled on the uses of RAM

Hi Cliff, I'm not really into such things, so I have no real idea what you mean. Anyway, I should do it with my i5. The other model that I couldn't purchase because of my budget has the i7 7700HQ. Is the performance between my i5 and the i7 a lot or slightly better?
