Hi everyone, not sure why I keep getting the error message on my new laptop that space is running out.

Please see below and advise if possible.

    Thanks

Hi, you only have 11 Gb free on C: That's really too small.

However not all the space on C: may be available as some may be required by a graphics card if you have one.
Further, there are plenty of reasons why temporary files maybe being created on C:
If your PC were to try to install an update of significant size, or an upgrade, you would expect to be in difficulty, and that the latter would fail.

Look at your Update History- is there a record of continual failures?

Noted your page file is on D: though, where there is plenty of room.

Run Ccleaner; don't keep personal files on C: (not just for the sake of space, but for OS maintenance reasons).
Disable hibernation (not much time saving with a SSD)
Then check how your disk is used with one of the many tools available- Windirstat, Treesize....

Also regarding your Subject line of Disk space problem, do I extend partition?, to Extend a partition you first have to have unallocated space on the drive. In your case there's nothing on Disk 0 you can Shrink to gain that space.

    Welcome to TenForums @gecksy

@dalchina is right, you have far to little free space on the C: drive. Often there is much that can be reclaimed, see this tutorial.

I'd start with 'Step 14. Use Disk Cleanup' then work my way through the others as required.

Something that continually fails is system restore, it never works when I try to go to a restore point. The point is created successfully but down the line it won't restore to that point.

System Restore is known and repeatedly commented on here to be unreliable. If it works, great- convenient- but you can't rely on it.

We repeatedly urge users to use disk imaging routinely. (E.g. Macrium Reflect+ external storage for disk image sets)

I am having problems opening anything from the search menu all of a sudden, when I typed in update and clicked update history, the screen flickered but it didn't come on

The same has happened with apps and features
    What happens if:
    a. you use Cortana search to find something in your Start Menu (i.e. launch a program)
    b. if you open Settings (via Cortana search, if it works!), via the Start Menu or from Win key + X, Settings and then search in Settings for Update History?

    a) nothing, a split second screen flick then nothing opens
    b) settings via Cortana = nothing
settings via start menu = nothing
    win key = nothing
