    Captain If I was out on the Great Lakes, I would put my trust in the old Acer running Win 7. A new SSD would be the way to go, it would eliminate the gyroscopic effect on the old HD. Clone your HD to the new SSD. Don't trash the old HD, keep it handy, safe and dry. All the best Skipper.

    Put the old HDD in a caddy with a SATA to USB interface for backups. These are really cheap.
