Once you get the hang of using winsat, you can basically write your own. Have a look through the TechNet docs for available winsat commands.

For example, I sometimes use winsat features -idiskinfo -icn -xml c:\temp\data.xml which is a blindingly fast test - less than a second even on a clunky VM (check out the total run time in the screenshot) - as it tests the data points I'm really interested in (but only includes the build, not the release as well).

Sure, this only lists the features but you can tailor your own tests to build your own WEI-like tool.

    Hope this helps...

EDIT: ROFL... I hadn't realised Brink had written a tutorial about using winsat.

This one's really simple- not a true benchmark of course.

Winaero built one which he claims out-WEI's ChrisPC's - but stated to be only for Win 8.1. It works on build 1709. It has a portable version.

Yes, I had seen that program. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated to include SSD and the like.
Nevertheless, I have enough info now to fly right and I want to thank all of you!

Interestingly WEI versions from both Chris and Sergei Tkachenko (WinAero) work on MOST of my Win10 PCs. Neither, alas, works on my production PC. Some .NET issue, for sure, but haven't been able to sort this one out. Suggestions anyone?
    TIA,

    Have a look at this:

corrupt dotnet - no amount of reinstall / repair helps Solved - Windows 7 Help Forums

and consider running the .NET Framework cleanup tool along with the other steps.

    Also consider running this first:

Download Visual C++ Runtime Installer v56

You can also try this to see what's installed and copy/ paste details.
