The file cannot be accessed by the system

When I try to access a file to upload to a hosting site I get “The file cannot be accessed by the system.” How can I correct this issue? I am currently away from my pc, so I cannot upload any screenshots.

Best wait until you are back at your PC, then post some more info. Not much to go on with a very general error message like that without more specifics.

Sorry for the delay, but your post was at 2:00a.m. my time.

    Just some basic info:

    1) a screenshot of when you tried to upload or access the file. The path just may be spelled wrong, or you do not have access to it.

    2) if you are using a process to upload that gives you a screen to browse for the file, a screenshot of that, too.

Any more details you think may be helpful. We'll take it from there.

Why would I not have access to the file(s) I'm trying to upload? My user profile is set for Administrative privileges. Anyway, here are the screenshots. Also, I have updated the thread title as I incorrectly identified it originally.

I said that due to the original post title. That has now changed, so my statement may not be relevant. I noticed the files are movie rips...maybe the system is blocked from them due to some copyright flag. That's only a guess, I do not know how or from where they were obtained.

Not sure. The files were ripped off of a bootleg disc my friend gave me to burn copies from. This is the first time I'm experiencing this kind of problem. I've never experienced it before.

Without knowing the trail of the source, good bet there's a region and/or copyright block on them. Maybe try a different source.

About all I can and should suggest..........good luck.

Sometimes downloaded files have hidden or special characters in the filename and windows cannot properly access them. Try renaming the files to something much simpler. You may have to boot from a live linux drive to do this.

    Hi there
Try uploading via FTP - check also password is OK and see if you can access other files on your site. Check also that ports for FTP are open on your PC (so you can send outbound files to the server). There's plenty of FTP programs around if you don't want to use the command line --filezilla is easy enough.

If you can access other files on the site then you have a problem with the data you are trying to upload.
The only other issue is if the files contain viruses the server might be checking for those however I'm sure you would have surely down a proper scan before uploading to any sort of server.

    Cheers
