    Thanks. If I understand your posts correctly, you're suggesting I boot into 1803 and then replace (according to your screenshots) the "Intel Chipset SATA RAID Controller" with 1709's "Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller"--is that correct?

    I'm not sure where to find 1709's "Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller"; however, in my 1709\DriverMax\My Drivers\DriverMaxBackup - 2018.07.13.13.49.50.zip\SCSIAdapter folder, I notice a driver folder that contains much of the path listed in both of your screenshots: PCI_VEN_8086&DEV_2822&CC_0104. That folder contains two files:
    • iastorav.inf
    • iaStorAV.sys

    Both files are dated 2017-09-29; i.e., many months before 1803 was released. Perhaps this is the driver; I'll attempt to install it. You may have discovered the issue!

    I booted into 1803 and then used DriverMax to attempt to restore 1709's "Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller". It's been saying it's restoring for about 20 minutes. I fear the restore process may have hung.

    Experiencing slight pause every four seconds


    After two hours of watching DriverMax's animated progress bar as it attempted to restore the driver, I closed the app, rebooted, but saw no improvement with the latency issue.

    I noticed that 1803 iastorav.inf and iaStorAV.sys are dated 2018-04-11. Their 1709 counterparts are dated 2017-09-29.

    I right-clicked on 1709 INF and selected Install but an error message appeared stating that "The third-party INF does not contain digital signature information".

    I took the radical step of overwriting 1803 System32\drivers\iaStorAV.sys with 1709 and then rebooted. There is still no improvement with the latency issue.

    Have You try replace intel sata driver to microsoft default sata driver like i sugested in #40 post?

    So You should try to change something with ur driver, i think. Here is info about intel AHCI / RAID driver Forum - Intel RST/RSTe Drivers (newest: v16.5.0.1027 WHQL/v5.4.0.1462 WHQL)
    I think ur chipset is ICH10R (in some specifications is only ICH10, but in my opinion it is not true, deviceID for sata is same like for ICH10R).
    I havent any pc with your chipset, so i cant make some own tests... that's why i must improvise.

    It lists what appears to be the desired driver -- and it also says it's compatible -- however, it says the driver is not digitally signed

    Hey, i am on phone so my answer will be short. About first way - uncheck checkbox show compatibile driver and try default microsoft driver. If u want try with iastoreAV u must find .cat file. It must be in one folder with iastorAV.inf. U can use very comfortable program - "everything" to find this folder. Just type in "Evyrything": iastorav.cat

    Option 1: When I uncheck “Show compatible hardware” and then select Microsoft as the manufacturer, the choices are limited; I don’t see a Microsoft default SATA driver.

    I checked each of the manufacturers in the list but did not see a “Standard SATA AHCI Controller” as you showed in your screenshot.

    Option 2: The 1709 iastorAV.inf and iaStorAV.sys came from the DriverMax backup I took; I believe the files came from C:\Windows\System32\drivers; in any case, no .cat file was included in the backup. I restored 1709 but Everything could not find such a file.

    So maybe just for test dissable digital driver signing. Like i said - only for test. If this driver will be correct - then we will think what to do next. How to: Disable driver signature enforcement on Windows 10

    Thanks so much for continuing to help with this. Sorry for the delay; I was out of town longer than I anticipated.

    I double-checked my 1803; there is no Standard Controller SATA AHCI manufacturer or device, even when
    I uncheck “Show compatible hardware”. Why would that be?

    I temporarily disabled driver signature enforcement, installed the 1709 "Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller" driver, and then rebooted. The issue has gone away! There is no buzzing/stuttering audio nor slight pausing of the mouse cursor! LatencyMon does not report any high execution drivers, unlike it did prior to installing the 1709 driver.

    Currently, I'm performing various activities to make sure the system is stable. What do you recommend I do next?
