Getting rid of windows.old

Which folders are you trying to delete?
It's mostly just various old junk folders that servers no purpose, other than taking up space on my disk. The windows.old folder was one of them.

Occasionally Windows incorrectly thinks that one or more files in Windows.old are in use. This can prevent deleting it entirely.
When that happens often the only way to delete it is to boot from something else so that windows isn't running to get in your way. Axe0 has already given you one way to do that in post #7.

Anyway, im going to mark this thread as solved.
I do hope you know what you are doing. I only use disk cleaners like CCleaner and Wise Disk Cleaner to clean 'junk' rather than trust my own 'intelligence'.
