    Windows Needs More Space???


    Apparently Windows needs more space on my (C:) drive for its latest update. However, when I open the 'Storage Usage' box in 'Settings' it shows that I have 7.39GB of 'Temporary Files'. When I open the 'Temp. file' it shows a total of just a few MB's. Any suggestions? I show 2.46GB of free space left on 'Local Disk (C:)' So I deleted my 'Pictures' in (C:) & should have gained 10GB of storage space, but it still shows only 2.46GB.

    I have a SD Card with 31.3GB of free space on it. However, I converted that into a OneDrive partition in 'Disk Management, so that all OneDrive's files could be transferred from 'Local Disk (C:) to OneDrive OHD (O:) Any help appreciated!!

    Hi, you can try this tutorial
    Open and Use Disk Cleanup in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

    and /or you can try running Ccleaner (free)

    Typically you will need as much free space as your Windows folder for upgrading (if that's what you're doing) to create Windows.old. And then you still need some free space of course.

    If it's an update, well, you should need less.

    2.46Gb free space is, in any case, far too small - I would expect your system to be relatively slow at times as it pages things in and out of your 4Gb of RAM.

    Best practice is not to keep personal data on C: - you can easily create your own files, folders on a different disk and create your own libraries or add the folders to an existing library.

    Whilst you can relocate standard folders to another disk, there are quite a few threads where people have run into significant problems doing so.

    Thanks for reply dalchina.
    Actually I don't have any personal data on my Local Disk (C:). The 'Windows' folder in (C:) takes up 25GB of space
    from a total of 30GB net available on the disk. That's why I created a new disk named OneDrive (O:) on a SD Card & transferred my
    OneDrive files to it. Windows needs the space for updating. No upgrading involved. I am using a mini-pc with only a 32GB disk available. I have it hooked up to HDMI3 on my TV & use the 40" monitor. I do have a 68GB USB flash drive also installed at the moment, but that was only to be used as a backup in case I screwed up creating a new disk for OneDrive.

    I see. There are threads on trying to cope with such limited space... I'll just point you to them, and hopefully someone who's dealt with these configurations will comment further.

    I'd also recommend downloading and running Josh Cell Software's excellent Uncleaner tool. Here's a link to grab it from MajorGeeks (a reliable source of virus-free downloads): Download UnCleaner - MajorGeeks.
