In reply to Caledon Ken, the answer is no I did not uninstall it I merely disabled the Intel one. There is no ACPI Compliant one I am reluctant to uninstall anything that came with the computer as that may infringe my guarantee there is also no Advanced Power Options. This is a very small basic laptop and seems to lack the options you are suggesting.
I've tried to find a manual for your laptop but no luck yet. Is this your laptop?
THOMSON NEO10 10.1" Intel® Atom™ Laptop - 32 GB eMMC, Black
It looks like a very nice unit.
Although we are wondering about your battery problems, it has passed the test you tried.
But in addition there is a mix of some crash problems, with/without USB connections and maybe something else I haven't noticed.
--- You could be right, bring the laptop back in and have it checked out.
To get to your advance power settings.....
Right click Start > Power Options > Additional Power Settings on right > Change Plan Settings for plan that is active > Change Advance Power Settings > Battery settings are at bottom of list.
Thank you all for your advice with my laptop battery problem but no matter what I do the problem persists. The laptop works fine on mains but crashes persistently on battery using usb sockets and if the battery is not fully charged. As the machine is only 3 months old I will take it back to the supplier for repair under guarantee.
