After latest W10 update, suddenly lost a lot of hd space

    Hi there,

After the last Windows 10 update, I sudden lost almost 10 gigs of SSD hd space. Getting the message. I've tried uninstalling what bloatware I could find and cleaning the cache/recycling/temp files, etc. I don't know where this extra weight is coming from. Has anyone else had this issue?

Are you referring to the 1803 Spring Update, or the last Patch Tuesday Update? The size you state looks suspiciously like a hiberfil.sys - The Hibernation file. Do you use Fast Startup ?

Also, if you have not already, you might want to run the formal Disk Cleanup. It can clean up areas you may have missed, and is safer than manually doing it.

If that was the April 2018 Update to version 1803 then a windows.old folder would have been created to keep your old system in should you want to roll back.

f14tomcat has already pointed you to a tutorial on using Disk Clean up which amongst other thing can delete your old windows installation. This tutorial may also help...

It was the Windows.old folder. I also used BleachBit to clean up my computer and that helped as well. Thank you both!
