    Stuck on Boot

    Hello,

I’m having an issue with booting. Yesterday, I did some cleanup by using Glary Utilities, SystemCare, and Registry First Aid. After completion I rebooted. Well, now my PC won’t load Windows. It’s stuck in the loading stage. The screen is black with a loading icon on the bottom. It happens right after the Windows icon screen. So far I’ve disconnected/reconnected everything, performed chkdsk, performed scannow. I really don’t want to do a Windows reinstall because i just did one last week for a different problem. Any suggestions? Much appreciated.

Restore the last System Backup you did prior to all those "cleanup" processes. If no backup, restore the last Restore Point before all those processes.

The three processes mentioned all can be dangerous and cause system malfunction, BSOD, hung system, and a myriad of other issues that are very hard to diagnose. If all 3 were run, particularly with the vendors default settings, there is a high likelihood some critical and/or necessary files have been deleted.

If you have none of these options available, an In-place System Repair may be in order. It will not deleted any of your personal files, programs, or apps.

Follow-up question, Craig. If you are stuck on boot:

"It’s stuck in the loading stage. The screen is black with a loading icon on the bottom."

How did you run sfc /scannow and chkdsk?

    Thanks.......

I ran that off a usb recovery. I also can’t restore from any point because I don’t have earlier points. My system couldn’t create restore points. That’s part of the reason for the actions i did yesterday to cause this.

    No backup either?

If not, do you have any bootabale Windows media, like an install DVD or Thumb drive? You could try to boot from it and do the Repair option at lower left corner of the screen.

If you clean installed a couple 3 -4 weeks ago, you should still have the Media.

You're running out of options. If no backup, no restore point, repair won't work....... You will need to clean install and watch carefully what you do going forward with 3rd party cleaners. They can cause issues and problems that are extremely hard to find, if you can find them all. You also would be wise to develop a backup plan should this situation occur again. Macrium Reflect is highly recommended here on Tenforums, and is free.
