HP Envy 17 Windows 10 laptop continues to run slow despite full reset

    Hi,

I have a HP ENVY NotebooK 17-n062na running Windows 10. I have the System Information.nfo file. I couldn't attach it so I have a Google drive link:

    NFO File

The main issue is that when browsing the web with Chrome, the computer will slow down to a crawl despite only 2 to 3 browser tabs, especially if some of them are Youtube pages. It does not happen immediately when opening Chrome but over a 1-2 session, I can expect it to slow down and it remains slows unless I restart the computer.

I did a entire PC reset including wiping my personal files. It seemed ok for a few hours but still hanged. I may be mistaken but it is slower since I restored my backed-up files. The slow down was definitely present even before I had restored my personal files however.

I wish I could narrow down the main issue into something more precise rather than 'a slow computer' but I cannot pin anything down. I review the Task Manager when the slow down happens and nothing obviously worrying is apparent to me.

I do not have any specific anti-virus software on my laptop because I have just reset it. I expect that anyone who try to help me will need to take me through the diagnostic sieve to narrow down the vague problem so thank you for your patience.

Sorry for the double post, I couldn't find out how to edit my original post.

For the first time, I got the BSOD with the error WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR. Perhaps it is relevant.

I ran the chkdsk command prompt and it found some bad sectors. I have the event file linked here. I hope that you are able to open it on your own computers:

    Chkdsk results

I also ran Windows Memory Diagnostics and that did not find anything.

I ran sfc scannow command prompt and it did not find anything.

Despite running these processes the slowdown happened again today and I used tasklist command prompt to get a list of processes that were running at the time. I have attached the list a .txt. with this post. Maybe other people can see something which I missed.

Again I am sorry to post again on my own thread but I don't know how to edit the previous posts. If any moderators could help me, that'd be great :)

Getting physical bad clusters is not a good thing. I would BACKUP YOUR DATA ASAP and I would replace the hard disk for a new one.
The best route (although slow) is to do a clean OS installation afterwards or you could opt for doing a Macrium Reflect image before changing the hard disk and then reapply it to the new hard disk. It will carry the bad sector count, so you will need to reevaluate the drive for bad sectors (option /B for chkdsk) and it could be time consuming.

So I advise you to go the Clean Installation route, but backup everything first just to be on the safe side.

    Thanks for your reply eLPuSHeR.

I downloaded HDDscan and scanned my hard drive.

There are alot of bad sectors. I think this explains my issue. I already have everything backed up. I bought extended warranty for this laptop so I will send it off for repairs.
