    Problem with Windows power management

    Hi,
I have come here looking for help regarding a issue I have found.
    I have a asrock a320m-hdv board with latest bios using a ryzen 3 2200g.
I always put my builds on high performance in the Windows power plan within the control panel no problem.
Only on this current build no matter what power plan I choose they all idle at 1.6ghz.
I've been into the bios and enabled/disabled c-states but nothing seems to make my processor stick at 3.5ghz just like high performance power plan should do.
Would be grateful for a little help thanks if anybody can.
    Cheers
    Rob

Welcome to the forum open a admin cmd prompt then enter

    powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61

Now open power setting and you will have an extra ultimate power setting

There was a problem with Ryzen and Power options always defaulting to Balanced after a reboot. It's fixed in last insuder build but I'm not sure if it's fixed in regular 1803 build. Easiest fix is to adjust Advanced power option for the plan it defaults to.

There should also be a AMD Ryzen balanced plan if you install latest chipset drivers, it can also be modified same way.

Here's the thing I'm on the latest Windows build and if I select high performance power plan it stays on that after reboot so that's not the problem.
It's also set to 100% minimum.
I do have the ryzen balanced plan but that does nothing aswell.
Not one power plan changes the behaviour of the cpu, it's almost like the cpu itself or the motherboard is taking control of the power settings. I don't know if the cpu can do this and I can't really find anything to suggest this on the internet. And like I say I've gone through the uefi bios enabling/disabling c state power options etc but still nothing makes the cpu run 100% like it should. The manual for my motherboard is also useless doesn't really tell you alot lol.

Also applying the ultimate performance power scheme doesn't change a thing either.
    Thanks

There should be some power saving options in the bios ERP, C-states etc. which have to be enabled in BIOS, windows itself can't do it without it. If you disable them in BIOS frequency shouldn't drop. So, look for "ERP" in BIOS if you have disabled C-states already. Also if you set voltages and CPU multiplier manually, there will be no changes in frequency.

I don't set voltages or multiplier manual I always leave all that on auto. I never overclock or anything like that I just always set to high performance power plan and leave it as that in past builds but this build isn't working as all previous on. I've looked in the bios but no "erp" setting anywhere. These are the only power settings I have.
    Thanks
