Start-up and After sleep takes forever along with software

Hello, I have a toshiba laptop running Win 10 April update 64bit, 16gb memory and a intel I3. The PC used to run fast but now it seems sluggish and things take forever to load like Chrome and software. What takes the longest is if my PC closed and sleeping and i open it, it takes forever to get running kinda like if I shut it down same thing but if its running for a while its just a little sluggish like I said. What software can I run to see what's going on or what can I do?

    Thanks,
    Soggy

    Hi,

What kind of disk do you have? HDD or SSD ?

First I'd suggest you check your disk health. You can use tools like https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/

    I would start with Ccleaner.

I run that all the time alone with system Ninja.
    My discount is a SSD

    Thanks!

There's been talk about the spcetre/meltdown MS patch that's slowing down their systems. That could be something to look into.

No it reboots ok, it just won't respond to any commands for some time. I'm guessing something is running and is draining CPU untill it's up and running. I don't really have that many programs on this laptop. I ran a check to see if my memory was good and everything came out great.

After that unresponsive period, will the system behave normally or the sluggishness persist ?

Semi sluggish. For instance if I open Chrome it takes about 25 sec or opening software it takes a bit. It isn't like it used to be I can tell you that...

    Ok,

I suggest you doing two things:

    1. take a boot trace, to see what's happen in the post boot phase
    2. Take a trace to measure the startup time of chrome

    1. The boot trace:

    1. Open a command line as an Administrator (Run As Administrator)
    2. Type the following command in the command line Windows: cd %programfiles(x86)%\Windows Kits\10\Windows Performance Toolkit
    3. Type the following command to start recording the boot trace: wpr -start GeneralProfile -start CPU -onoffscenario Boot -onoffresultspath c:\wpr -numiterations 1 -filemode
    4. Compress the .ETL file generated under the C:\WPR path (very important)

    2. Measure the Chrome startup time:

After the boot trace ended, process the following steps:

    • Type this command "wpr -start generalprofile -start CPU"; this will start trace recording.
    • While recording the trace, open Chrome
    • After chrome is started, type this command to stop trace recording "wpr -stop %userprofile%\desktop\MyTrace.etl". The trace file will be created on your desktop.
    • Compress the resulting file (Important)

Upload the two trace files on https://wetransfer.com/ and share the link
