    For such folks, the note provides instructions on how to suppress those events in the Event Viewer "by creating a filter and manually editing the filter's XML query." Please consult the Note for detailed instructions. Please also be aware that if you choose to silence these events, you won't be informed if a real, noteworthy DCOM event occurs on your system. If you search these Forums, you can also find other ways to handle these events, too. These include editing the registry to suppress DCOM events completely (subject to the same observation about cutting oneself off from information about real errors), and changing permissions to grant the necessary system components the ability to alter DCOM component data (this is the safest way to prevent those events from recurring, but must be repeated for each feature upgrade that comes along).

    For the rest of us -- including me -- we can safely and completely ignore those events. They do not indicate problems or trouble, and occur by deliberate design.

    I feel it has to be asked - and I know this thread it's so old that 10 day old sun dried fish would probably have a better aroma but.. I note that these DistributedCom warnings are now warnings and not errors, while that is somewhat better I feel it does not quite go far enough and Microsoft need a category called Info - I.E Informational Only. That I would feel a bit better about. I don't like the thought of blocking any form of DCOM message in case you get one that is genuinely a problem and from my perspective even that they are appearing as a warning it is a problem. Warnings and Errors are something which you should sit up and take notice off. Informational's are just additional information and pretty much throw away unless you are looking for info on why an Error or Warning occurred.
    The thing that does concern me about these is that they relate to an unknown SID and people have mentioned that they have tried to delete this SID and it reappears, someone will somehow use this as an attack vector... You know it will eventually happen so don't jinx it by saying it can't :)

    On web, most of pages mention that these DCOM warnings are harmless.
    But it seems in my case, these warning are somehow interconnected with "half" working software.

    I have Google Chrome, 1Password and 1Password browser extension in Chrome.
    Browser extension talks to standalone application, and allows user to use application's functions.

    Approximately in December I updated my Windows 10 Pro v1607 to v1909.
    Only later I noticed that 1Password app and extension broke and behaves differently.

    Now when you launch Chrome you get message:
    Code:
    Refusing helper connection from "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe", because of untrusted certificate
    And in same time you get DCOM record in EventViewer.
    Code:
    The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
    {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54}
     and APPID
    {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402} <<< - PerAppRuntimeBroker
     to the user pcname\username SID (S-1-5-21-3171673572-1917476506-3007570168-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
    It really sounds like there are issue with granting permissions to chrome/extension/something else, which eventually breaks browser's extension functionality.
    • Mozilla Firefox works without any problems, but I'm sure that different browsers have different approaches to get application & extension communication.
    • Tried to install Windows 10 v1909 on VM, and see if there are similar issues. And no, everything works just fine. This probably will mean that my jump from v1607 to v1909 have quite version gap. Guess something went wrong.

    Hey TEMPUSER - On my Win 10 Pro 64-bit version 1909, I get LOTS of those event viewer Warnings for
    {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54}
    and APPID
    {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}
    But I don't use Chrome. I use Firefox all the time.

    However, I have not tried to fix this issue due to the "Remove" problem that I noted directly above at Why Certain DCOM 10016 Events Don't Matter

    the 10016 and 10010 errors do actually effect my cpu though

    i have a certain app that crashes and every time it crashes the event viewer pops up with an error code of 10016, 10010 or both.

    there have been multiple instances of this over an extended period of time. the errors pop up consistently with the exact time of the apps crash.

    the full details of my crash are here idk why it seems benign in most peoples cases but causes crashes in my case.

    event error 10010 and 10016 game crash from game to desktop
