    April update general performance

I have the latest update and notice that loading times on any browser have slowed to a crawl even Edge.Anyone else have this problem ?

You run a electromechanical drive for your main os partition? HDDs are a nightmare to get consistent response times on where random r/w are happening all the time, especially between and after a major feature update. Does your performance have any relation to the disk drive? Or does it look more like it's slow because of a connection issue?

If by the latest you mean 1803 17134.1, then I have not experienced that problem.

Yes I do mean 1803 and the performance has gone slow since the update not related to hdd's or pcor isp download speeds all those are perfecly ok .

Mine is at least as fast as it was prior to the update. Nothing regarding performance is slower.

I have noticed that when servicing machines with hard drives, it spends a lot of time seeking so I don't think Windows 10 is optimised for spinning drives.

Did you update or did you clean install? I always do a clean install for the big feature updates and have never (knock on wood) had any performance issues.... Might be a good idea to try that, I bet it clears up your problems...

My laptop used to boot in 2 mins, now it takes 5 mins, that is more than noticeable difference.
That applies to a browser as well, I can like go to make a coffee until it starts (cold boot).

It seems, that it is not optimized for SSD either. 1803 is getting worse each day.

Did have the same issue on the arrival of FF59 on 1803. Was loosing up to 90% of bandwidth and/or FF was slow as donkey. That's been a few builds ago.

Switch to Nightly for that reason and stick to it. Didn't have boot problems, but the Ethernet controller driver was outdated. See if it is up-to-date?

That's bad, my Laptop with just a standard HDD Switch on Start in about 50 seconds with 1803 after about a week of use, it used to be about 30 seconds, and before that about 20 Seconds with Windows 8.1 3-4 years ago. Never done a clean install.

I suspect it's slower because of the Timeline feature, but I know almost nothing about the internal workings of Windows.

Checked the 3D graphics performance and it is identical back through at least 3 of these version updates even back to Windows 8.1.
The Intel and Nvidia graphics drivers are over a year old.

Gamers of course blame MS for Nvidias latest and/or beta drivers they use. There is a blatantly obvious answer but they don't like it, and continue to mess around.
