Can't run SFC
All my efforts to run SFC failed. All I get is the following message:
"Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service."
I run a search and the net and tried reactivating the “Windows Module Installer“ service.
This didn't solve my problem.
I ran the same procedure in SAFE mode. Same failure.
My win10 pro system is a 64-bit operating system.
What else should I do?

Problems with sfc /scannow sometimes can be fixed with dism commands (dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth)
These are typically failure to fix integrity violations.
This problem is failure to start the repair service.
Consider performing an in place upgrade repair with a Windows 10 iso.
The Windows build on April 30 switched from 1709 to 1803.
So an in place upgrade repair can be used to perform a build upgrade and/or an repair of build 1803.
Files and applications should be saved. Windows customized settings likely will be changed to default settings with the upgrade repair.
Create a bootable Windows 10 iso:
Download Windows 10
To perform an in place upgrade repair:
1) Power on the computer
2) Open file explorer
3) Insert the bootable Windows 10 iso into any USB port
4) Identify the iso within file explorer
5) Click on the iso and launch setup or setup.exe
6) Follow the text and images in this link:

Thanks
Thank you for your prompt and effective response.
Problem solved, even though using the direct update instead of the involvement of an installation DVD/

Great.
You are welcome.
I'm glad that it has been fixed.
