but how does that solve the original problem of trying to import some new registry entries?
restoring the deleted entries is just restoring the original entries
but still unable to merge the new reg file which he was trying to do..
I am also experiencing the same problem.
Maybe I should make a new post since the solution you said would not work for me since I don't have any deleted entries
but I just want to merge/import some new reg file.

It wasn't new registry entries. It was entries the program deleted during a registry clean process. As part of that process it backed them up before deleting.
You should make a new post and describe your problem. Post the .reg file you are trying to merge into the registry as part of your post. Explain why you are doing this as well.
madmax2,
"I am also experiencing the same problem" - there could be umpteen reasons why you are having problems. Perhaps you are trying to import Registry entries for which you do not have the necessary permissions. Who knows?
You really do need to follow the advice above and create your own thread in which you explain what your objective is and what keys you are trying to change.

Contents of .REG file?
If you're trying to amend a 'system' hive (i.e. HKLM) then you often need to import as the Administrator, not just as a member of the Administrators group.
