    Help with Memory.

I have had this problem since I reinstalled Win 10 x64 2 weeks ago. These numbers where approximately the same before this last forced update. I have done some research, seems like everybody has the same problem but not to my extent. I know hardware reserves a bunch, especially my laptop video card. Any ideas our direction would help. Thanks guys. Please see attached.

Open Resource monitor > Memory and it will give you more detailed memory usage.

Thanks CountMike, I know that, but even on a fresh reboot, why do I have as little as 5.5 gb of mem available to me?

Did this just start happening? Can you try removing one DIMM at a time and seeing how much is being reserved when you boot with only 8GB?

It's a Asus laptop with no compartments on the bottom, the whole machine has to come apart. But that's what I don't understand, its showing all 16 gb. When I first got the machine almost 2 years ago, it came with 8 gb, put in the 16 gb, booted the machine, and windows noticed it right away. I just never noticed this before. I had just had a stint of using Linux for 2 months because Win 10 crashed and I lost my recovery drive at the same time. Just re-installed a little over a week ago. I don't seem to be running slow, turned off un-needed services, all stuff I have been doing since XP, Vista and so on.

Open the website for the computer manufacturer > enter the product or serial number or model > select the operating system > view drivers and BIOS > post a URL or hyperlink into the thread.

Run the beta version of the log collector and post a zip into this thread:
    log collector v2-beta08.zip
    (extract > open)

    1) Open file explorer > this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for live-kernel-reports and see if there are any: USBXHCI.dmp > post one drive or drop box share links into the thread

    2) The logs displayed that the computer was having some recent BSOD however there were no dump files.

    3) Open Ccleaner > click windows tab > scroll down to system and advanced > post an image into the thread

    4) In the left lower corner search type: system or system control > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings
    a) > on the advanced tab under startup and recovery > click settings > post an image of the startup and recovery into the thread.
    b) > on the advanced tab under performance > click on settings > under performance options > click on the advanced tab > under virtual memory > click on change > post an image of the virtual memory tab into the thread

    5) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    a) sfc /scannow
    b) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    c) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
    d) chkdsk /x /f /r (run this command on all drives using the syntax chkdsk /x /f /r C: or chkdsk /x /f /r G: and change the drive letter to the applicable drive.
This may take many hours so plan to run overnight.

    C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk /x /f /r

The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.
Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Type: Y
    reboot

    6) Use the information in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer > copy and paste > notepad > post one drive or drop box share links into the thread:
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 Windows 10 Tutorials

    7) Check the BIOS: BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 206, 9/2/2015
Upgrade the BIOS to the latest version:
    Version 208
    2016/02/172.98 MBytes
    BIOS 208
    Fix the hardware ID

    8) Uninstall Spider Player if possible during the troubleshooting process. If it is a necessity indicate that in the thread.

    9) Run HD Tune on all drives:
    http://www.hdtune.com/
Post images into the thread for the results on these tabs:
    a) Health (SMART)
    b) Benchmark
    c) Full error scan

    10) In the left lower corner search type: msconfig > click boot tab > click advanced options > post an image into the thread of the BOOT advanced options window

I know what the BSOD was. Been having trouble running my Focusrite USB music interface, I was running it as my main sound device also. I noticed the BSOD after I saw the level meters go a little crazy, sound would go in and out, then BSOD. The other stuff I will look into, may not get to it today, but thanks for all your help.
