here are some shots of the drive where I get the message. As you see I cannot do anything. the two folders Recovery and System Volume Information say that they are inaccessible by me. I see solutions that just disable the low disk space message -
but it that fixing anything??? I'm confused as to what I really need to do. Please help?
    @towdesign
To prevent Windows from reassign the drive letter, you'd need to set the Attributes of this partition (Recovery). Here's a complete commands:

    diskpart
select volume X ====> where X is the Drive letter of the Recovery partition.
    remove
    set id=DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC override
    gpt attributes=0x8000000000000001
    exit

NOTE: gpt attributes=0x8000000000000001 will prevent Windows to assign a letter to this partition.

    reassign the drive??

can you explain to me what "prevent Windows from reassign the drive letter" means? Should I not even have a drive H?Low Disc Space Warning-devices-drives.jpg

Unless Windows has the data necessary to recognize that partition as a recovery partition and therefore to leave it alone, it may try to assign a drive letter again in the future. That's what those data values for diskpart signify. The type ID (big number in the set id directive) and the GPT attributes (next number) are supposed to take care of this.

Here's what you want to see for the details for that partition in diskpart

You have to type a few commands in Diskpart first...

    SELECT DISK 0

    SELECT PARTITION 1

    DETAIL PARTITION

Your GPT and Type values are OK, so all you have to do is remove the drive letter. See thread #11 for precise instructions. Sorry I didn't provide the necessary lead-in commands in Diskpart to let you see the details for the partition in question (and thanks @Bree for filling that gap: we've been covering this so much lately, I'd incorrectly assumed this was common info). Take heart: You're very close to having this solved. All you need to do is fire up Diskpart, select the volume with the unwanted drive letter, and then remove that drive letter.
    Best wishes,

Dear Ed, Thanks for the clarification. Not understanding is on me - not used to dealing with errors. Just one more thing to check before I follow instructions on #11. The error message is about my drive H and not my drive D. Drive D is labeled recovery image. Drive H has no label on it. So do I still proceed with directions from #11 for drive H? Yes, that sounds right to me. If you make an image backup of your system/boot drive before you do this, you can always roll back to where you were before you started. That said, I've done this twice on my production desktop in the last 10 days and each time it has worked without any noticeable or negative side effects.
