Fast Startup Issue - Can't turn it off

As stated in the title. Since i got the Creators Update, my computer will not shutdown and continues to "fast startup" with all my previous windows still open, even with the setting turned off. Checked the BIOS setting for this as well and made sure it was set to 0. Really annoying, anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) powercfg.exe /hibernate off
    6) chkdsk /scan
    7) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
    8) shutdown /s /f /t 0

    9) Please update the specs in the "My Computer" section:
System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums:

In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)

    10) Run the beta version of the log collector and post a zip into this thread:

This is nothing to do with fast startup.

It is an "improvement" that MS brought in in Creators Update and after numerous complains have backed out again.

There is no reason to check your install or disk - it is a feature

You need to turn off this setting:

See here Use sign-in info to auto finish after Update or Restart in Windows 10 Windows 10 Tutorials

It should work if your creators is up to date (I'm on 16299.248) but if not run Windows Update and it will sort itself out eventually as long as your setting above is turned off.

    PonyBoy,

Just to complete things - about "Checked the BIOS setting for this" The entry in your BIOS is a different thing. It is not part of Windows and is not related to the Windows 10 Setting 'Fast start-up'.

The BIOS options differ between computers so you'd need to check with your computer maker for details but, just by way of example, the BIOS FastBoot options for mine are
Minimal = Reduces boot time by skipping certain hardware and configuration initialization during boot
Thorough = Performs complete hardware and configuration initialization during boot.
Auto = Allows the BIOS to decide configuration initialization performed during boot.

This may be what's happening and tricking me into thinking that fast startup is actually still enabled. I'll try this when i get home tonight. Thanks, and thanks errbody for the suggestions.
