I have a HP Dv6 pavillion 2nd gen intel i7 4gb ram runs very smoothly on windows 7, however after the update to windows 10 it has become very slower to the point that i can not open more than 2 windows! I want to stay on windows 10 because it has some features that i really liked so i decided to do a fresh install, however during set up to do a fresh install it warned me that i can not roll back to windows 7 after this fresh install. I am worried that after the fresh install my computer will stay slow. Any suggestions on what to do?? And help will be appreciated

    New Dell and W10

Is it me or does windows 10 seem slow to anyone else. its not like i got a ancient laptop its a lenovo t430s got a i7 3520m 2.90ghz with 16 gigs of ram but boy it loads slow and seems to run slow.
I used my new Dell Small Desktop with Windows 10 for the first time last night. Awful! VERY sluggish. Had a few crashes and it took forever to surf the web. I'll likely return/exchange it with Dell for a Windows 7 machine. Or return it for a Lenovo with W7.

So it isn't just the upgrade that is slow...it's also on new devices as well.

@Nadim nasrallah Just backup everything important into the cloud like Dropbox, and just do the "risk"... Installing Windows and setting up programs takes maybe about 30 minutes... Everything is in the cloud today, it's 2015.... If Win10 is still slow for you, then just re-install Win7 (which will take a bit longer because of all the updates), whats the risk?? Nothing... Also I have upgraded now on three PCs, my desktop a Intel i7 3770 (Ivy Bridge), on my ultrabook, a Asus Zenbook UX31A (i5 3317U), and on my tablet. And Windows 10 on all three systems is the fastest Windows ever, in every discipline I can imagine, boot time, coming on after suspend to ram, multitasking, cpu usage in programs/flash/web Edge and so on... Yes there are some annoying bugs, and yes there is some battery drain issues on tablets, but for a laptop and desktop, Windows 10 is amazing. It also let my ultrabook have a slightly lower cpu temperature while doing the same things I did before on Windows 8.1.

I did a clean install on Sunday....
After few initial heart stopping moments, I am back on line, working well . Faster than when I was after upgrade (Win 7 to Win 10)
I now have no option of going back..

@mkdr i have all my data backed up in the cloud but the problem is was what if after the fresh install win 10 was still slow as with many users who have done this? I will have no option of going back to win7. And no i havent backed up my computer while using my previous os so restoring to win7 is not an option.

I have a pretty slow laptop that came with windows 8 installed. I only use it for browsing the web but I have to admit windows 10 runs really well on it and I have done a few tweaks based on guides from the developer edition that came out 9 months ago.

To me, the UI feels a little 'laggy' now and then. I notice the 'working on it' message for an instant when navigating folders. The Start menu takes a while to appear. Windows 8.1 was never like that!
Yup, I've noticed the UI is a bit laggy especially the Start menu. I like for it to be snappy like in Windows 7 and prior but it almost feels like it's designed this way to make it look smoother at the cost of it appearing laggy.

I can still run my games on all high settings and maintain 40 to 60 fps but the Windows start menu is just sort of laggy feeling for me. The first time I loaded into w10 this weekend I swear the first thing that came to my mind after opening the start menu was that I was going to have to go and find another Start menu replacement. I like the design of the W10 start menu but not the laggyness of it.
