Change order of files of a folder when many media (slow) how to solve?

Hi, Win10 takes ages when about simply change the order of files inside a folder full of pictures for example. It looks he pretend to read each file, for example to get the exif infos.. it's completely useless since for example I just want to order the files from the last modified, etc.
How to block windows do this extra-unwanted job and just manage each file like an unknow one? It's also annoying for music and so on, I would like to display each folder, search for a file, order and so on like all files are unknown for Windows, possible? For example avoid displaying me "artist, album, song, etc" when a folder is with mp3, I wan the default name, dimension, last edited, etc

    Thank you!

Hi, I don't find this happening. Do you perhaps have Photos indexing the folder as an Album?

Suggest you examine your task manager to see what's happening when you observe the problem.

Did you try using a search engine? Here's what I found:

Is your folder of interest one you've added in Photos?
I.e. Is Photos processing that folder?

There have been reports like this:
Photos Background Task Host using high CPU resources. - Microsoft Community

    For more, search for
    photos indexing cPU use

    - just a thought..

I also note you mention music, which of course is different to the above.

Have you checked your disk recently?

    Try
Hard disk sentinel (trial) and post a screenshot of its GUI. Gives a clear indication.

Then from a command or powershell prompt run
    chkdsk x: /scan
where x is the drive where you have your media.

I correct myself, it doesn't happen with music. It happens olny with photos. I didn't add any folder, anywhere.

The think is this: when windows find files with .jpg extension it start scanning for all the files in the folder. Open a folder for example with 10.000 pictures take a lot. It looks like Windows want to read filed to create miniatures, but actually I see only the icons of the file, becase is small. I think the problem is on miniatures creation, even if I don't see them because i chosed a "list" format for displaying file, so how dispable miniatures when folder is in this format? I would keep miniatures when icons are big

So if you choose to view them as 'Small icons' 'List' or 'Details' do you mean you don't experience such a delay? (No thumbnails).

    - I think you're saying you see thumbnails in List format. Is that correct? Could you post a screenshot?

I don't have as many pictures in any folder, but I can see a small delay if I choose another view with, say, the view set to medium icons.

The top option disables thumbnail generation- try that as an experiment. If you then don't see thumbnails in, say, medium-sized icons view, can you sort your folder quickly?
