Win10 Ent LTSB (1607) Minimize Startup, eliminate "idle" prior to app
Hello,
I'm looking for pointers, advise, help, minimizing the Windows 10 boot time and eliminating an idle window between desktop launch and start of an application.
Setup Hardware:
Intel E3950 (1.6Ghz, 4 cores)
2x 4GB memory
Samsung SATA SSD
Two custom PCIe devices (yep, drivers for those are having an effect on startup)
Custom motherboard
Setup Software:
Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit LTSB (1607)
Setup will be running one homebrew application only, desktop is not needed.
Main goal is to bring up the system as quickly as possible. Drastic measurements are welcome, I can always backpaddle.
The application will launch automatically.
I already killed a pile of services (mostly via registry), trimmed drivers available on system, removed Windows features.
Boot-time is fairly unimpressed at ~23s to see first signs of the desktop.
(I'll dump the modifications made so far in another post below.)
The second issue is a large delay between the loaded desktop and any app starting. I cannot figure out what is causing this.
Ran performance analyzer against it and no major activity is recorded. Maybe I am reading it wrong.
It may help if there is a way to prioritize items int the startup routine?!
Many thanks.
